About William Brooks

William Brooks Beckum built a practice on steady progression through a range of law firms and courtrooms. He has moved from associate roles in established firms to leadership positions in firms that carry his name. The path shows a lawyer comfortable in both trial settings and firm management.

Beckum earned his undergraduate degree in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1998. He then turned to law and completed his J.D. at Washington University School of Law in 2003. The combination of a technical undergraduate degree and legal training gave him an analytical approach to case work and client counsel.

His legal career began after law school at Haar & Woods, LLP, where he joined the firm in 2003. He spent the next several years gaining litigation experience and handling matters that required courtroom appearances and client advocacy. In 2006 he moved to Rabbitt, Pitzer & Snodgrass, PC, continuing work on contested matters and further developing trial skills. Two years later he joined Lloyd Gray and Whitehead P.C., expanding his exposure to complex civil practice.

By 2010 Beckum’s career took a turn toward firms bearing his name. Records show roles at Beckum Law LLC and at Beckum Kittle LLP that year. He has held both lawyer and partner titles during his career. Those positions reflect a transition from employee roles into leadership and practice ownership. He has maintained an active role in litigation and firm operations through those changes.

Beckum is admitted to practice in multiple jurisdictions. He holds licenses in Missouri, Illinois and Alabama. He also appears in several federal districts in Alabama, including the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts. That range of admissions has allowed him to take cases in both state and federal courts and to handle matters requiring multi-jurisdictional filings.

Outside the courtroom he is a member of several professional organizations. He belongs to the Alabama Bar Association and the Birmingham Bar Association. He is also a member of the Alabama Association for Justice and participates in the Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce. Those memberships reflect an engagement with both the legal community and the local business community.

Colleagues and clients describe him as practical and thorough. He approaches cases with an engineer’s eye for detail and a lawyer’s attention to procedure. His current practice focuses on litigation in state and federal courts in Alabama, Missouri and Illinois.
