About Wayne E.
Wayne E. Holcomb built a varied educational background before entering law. He earned a B.A. in Literature from Oral Roberts University in 1980, pursued pre-med studies at Baker University in 1979, completed an MBA in Business Administration and Dispute Resolution at Old Dominion University in 2001, and received a J.D., concentrating in litigation, from Regent University School of Law in 2008.
Holcomb’s professional life began outside the courtroom. In 1986 he served as a pilot and legal officer in the U.S. Navy. That period shaped his approach to disciplined preparation and case management. After law school he joined Pender & Coward, P.C. as an associate in 2007, gaining early exposure to courtroom practice and civil litigation procedures.
He moved into private practice in the following decade. In 2010 he founded Poquoson Law Group, P.C., then served as managing partner of Holcomb & Carmines, P.C. in 2011. In 2012 he established HOLCOMB LAW, P.C., where he is the owner. These moves reflect a steady progression from associate to firm founder and principal lawyer.
Alongside practice, Holcomb has taken on academic and civic roles. He has taught as an adjunct professor at Regent University since 2017 and has served on the Poquoson City School Board since 2015. He has been active in local and state bar organizations, including the Newport News Bar Association and the York/Poquoson Bar Association, the latter of which he led as president from 2017 to 2018. He has belonged to groups focused on trial work and criminal defense, including the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the National College for DUI Defense.
Mediation and dispute resolution are consistent threads in his résumé. He earned Virginia General Mediator and Virginia Family Mediator certifications in 2004 through the Virginia Supreme Court program, and he serves as a mediator mentor for that program. His community work includes leadership as board president of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in Newport News, a role he began in 2013.
Holcomb’s professional memberships include Trial Masters, the American Academy of Trial Lawyers (Premier 100 Virginia), and the American Association of Premier DUI Lawyers. He was recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2016 through 2018. Those affiliations align with a practice that emphasizes courtroom advocacy, criminal and DUI defense, and alternative dispute resolution.
He currently maintains his practice at HOLCOMB LAW, P.C., handling criminal defense, DUI defense, trial work and mediation matters.
