About Walter Clark
Walter Clark Martin built his academic foundation in San Marcos and Houston. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Texas State University in 2006 and followed that with a Master of Arts in 2007 from the same school. He completed his legal studies at South Texas College of Law, receiving a J.D. in 2011.
Early practical work took him into public service and court environments. In 2006 he worked as a Veteran Affairs assistant for U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and served as a legal intern for the Honorable William Royal Ferguson. He moved into litigation support in 2007 as a litigation assistant in the Law Enforcement Defense Division for the Texas Attorney General’s office under Greg Abbott.
After law school, Martin took on several law-related roles that blended research, advocacy and dispute resolution. He served as a legal research assistant for the Honorable Grank G. Evans and Professor Walter A. Wright in 2011. That same year he worked at Brown Simms, PC and took on a general counsel position for Austin Social Planner. He also began practicing at The Martin Law Office as a lawyer and certified mediator in 2011.
Martin is licensed to practice in Texas and holds a mediator credential. He joined the American Bar Association in 2011 and became active in local trial and young lawyer groups soon after. His memberships include the Houston Trial Lawyers, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Houston Young Lawyers Association and the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association, all listing his involvement from 2013 onward. He is also a member of the Garland R. Walker American Inn of Court, where records show participation beginning in 2014.
Colleagues describe a practitioner comfortable in court and at the mediation table. His background in government litigation and legislative offices informs how he approaches procedural and evidentiary issues. He has experience handling trial preparation and research tasks from the early stages of his career and later moved into counsel and mediation roles that require negotiation and case management.
Martin maintains a practice based in Texas and balances litigation work with alternative dispute resolution services. He is active in professional associations that focus on trial practice and criminal defense issues. He currently concentrates his practice on civil and criminal litigation matters and mediation in Texas.
