About Jacob R.
Jacob R. Malatek earned his Bachelor of Arts at Texas A&M University in 2018 and went on to attend South Texas College of Law, where he received his J.D. in 2021. He completed a law school curriculum that prepared him for practice in state courts and for the range of procedural and substantive challenges that arise in private practice. His academic path placed him in two Texas institutions that feed directly into the state’s legal community.
After graduating, he was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2021. He joined Kean Miller LLP as an associate and has worked at the firm since. In that role he has taken on responsibilities typical of early-career litigation and transactional lawyers, including client advising, legal research, drafting court papers and transactional documents, and participating in court proceedings and negotiations when needed. Colleagues describe him as steady and methodical in handling casework and client files.
Malatek maintains active ties to professional groups that connect practitioners across the state. He has held membership in the State Bar of Texas since 2021 and is a member of the Texas Aggie Bar Association. In 2023 he took on a leadership role in the Washington County Bar Association as its treasurer, a position he continues to hold. In that capacity he oversees financial reporting and budgeting for a county-level bar organization and coordinates with other officers on local programming and member services.
His practice is anchored in the legal environment of Texas. He works on matters that arise before state courts and administrative bodies, supporting client positions through research, brief-writing and procedural advocacy. On transactional matters he assists in document preparation and due diligence tasks. Outside of firm assignments he participates in bar-sponsored events and continuing legal education offerings, keeping current on developments in Texas law and procedure.
He lives and practices in Texas as an associate at Kean Miller LLP. He is admitted to practice in Texas and maintains memberships in several professional bar organizations, and he continues to handle client matters as part of the firm’s team-based practice.
