About Walt
Walt Cobb earned his law degree from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University after completing a bachelor’s degree in political science at Huntingdon College. He studied the mechanics of government and law in a Southern academic environment and carried that interest into his legal training. His time at Cumberland framed the early contours of a career rooted in state practice.
After law school, Cobb established his practice in Alabama. He built a career practicing in the state’s courts and developed steady ties to the local legal community. By 2023 he took on the role of of counsel at Hollis Wright, joining a firm where he brings his substantive knowledge of Alabama law to client matters and internal firm projects. The title reflects a senior advisory role rather than a front-line partnership, and it put him in a position to consult on complex matters while maintaining ties to the broader bar.
Cobb holds active membership in the Alabama Bar Association and the Tuscaloosa Bar Association. He participates in association activities and in the local bar community. Those memberships keep him engaged with continuing legal education and local procedural developments. They also connect him to colleagues across the state and in Tuscaloosa, where regional practice patterns and court calendars shape daily work.
Colleagues describe Cobb as methodical in his approach. He tends to build cases on careful preparation and a measured assessment of legal options. His work in Alabama courts draws on an understanding of state rules and precedent. He has participated in matters that require coordination with other local counsel and with state agencies. He leans on courtroom experience and procedural knowledge when advising clients.
In recent years Cobb has balanced advisory duties with direct client work. His role at Hollis Wright allows him to consult on litigation strategy, review filings, and assist with negotiation and resolution efforts. He remains based in Alabama and continues to practice under the state’s bar. He currently serves as of counsel at Hollis Wright, handling matters in Alabama courts and advising clients on state-law issues.
