About W. Lee

W. Lee Pittman built his legal foundation at two Alabama schools. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1968 and later received his law degree from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. The combination of a business undergraduate degree and formal legal training shaped a practical approach to matters that bring law and commerce together.

Pittman moved from classroom to courtroom and office over several decades. He has practiced at Pittman, Dutton & Hellums, where he has worked on a range of client matters. His career has kept him rooted in Alabama’s legal community. He holds active membership in the Alabama Bar and participates in local bar activities in Birmingham.

Beyond state-level practice, Pittman maintains ties to national organizations. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the American Association for Justice. Those affiliations reflect ongoing engagement with legal developments and professional networks rather than a single specialty. Colleagues describe him as steady and experienced in handling the procedural and substantive elements that accompany civil practice.

Pittman’s work over the years has required attention to both factual detail and procedural timing. He has handled filings, client consultations, case preparation, and court appearances. He balances the administrative tasks of running matters with the courtroom demands that arise when disputes progress. His background in business administration informs how he advises clients on practical consequences as cases move forward.

Outside of direct casework, Pittman has contributed time to bar events and professional gatherings. He keeps current through association meetings and seminars. That ongoing participation helps him stay familiar with changing rules and procedural trends in Alabama courts.

Now in practice at Pittman, Dutton & Hellums, he continues to represent clients in matters arising in Alabama. He is licensed to practice in Alabama and remains active in state and national bar groups. He currently practices law in Alabama at Pittman, Dutton & Hellums.
