About Vivyane

Vivyane Kima took a deliberate path into law. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Texas Southern University before staying on to complete a Juris Doctor at the Thurgood Marshall School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 1984. Those two degrees shape how she approaches cases: a social work grounding that informs client contact and a legal education that provides the tools to resolve disputes.

Early in her career Kima built experience across several jurisdictions. She holds bar memberships in Virginia, Connecticut and the District of Columbia. Her admissions allow her to appear for clients in state and municipal matters across those regions. Alongside bar credentials, she has completed the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Program and holds CPR and AED certification, an unusual credential for a lawyer but one she keeps current.

Kima’s work record spans courtroom appearances and out-of-court problem solving. She has represented individuals and entities on matters in different venues, combining advocacy and practical case management. Colleagues describe her as someone who can move between litigation and negotiation. She pays attention to procedural detail and to the practical consequences of legal decisions for the people involved.

Her social work background shows up in interviews and client meetings. She tends to outline options in plain language. She also assesses how a legal outcome will affect family life, employment and other day-to-day realities. That perspective has influenced how she prepares discovery, frames settlement proposals and manages client expectations.

Kima has maintained a small practice footprint that lets her stay close to cases. She has engaged in transactional work as well as contested matters. She has handled filings and appearances in state courts and administrative settings across her admitted jurisdictions. While not a frequent presence in national headlines, her practice reflects steady, regional work on behalf of local clients.

Today she practices through KIMA & ASSOCIATES. Her office serves clients in Virginia, Connecticut and the District of Columbia. She continues to combine her legal training and social work background to assist clients who require both careful advocacy and attention to practical effects. She currently practices at KIMA & ASSOCIATES, handling legal matters across her admitted jurisdictions.
