About Valerie

Valerie Brown built her legal foundation on a liberal arts undergraduate education and a three-year law curriculum. She earned a B.A. from the University of Alabama — Tuscaloosa in 2006, studying English and African-American Studies. She went on to receive her J.D. from Regent University School of Law in 2011. Those years shaped her approach to research, writing and courtroom preparation.

After law school she entered practice in Alabama and has practiced under that jurisdiction since. Her professional credentials include certification as a Guardian Ad Litem for the State of Alabama. That credential authorizes her to represent the interests of children in juvenile and family court proceedings, a role that requires both investigative work and courtroom advocacy.

Brown is involved in several local and statewide legal organizations. She is a current member of the Huntsville Madison County Bar Association and participates in the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. She also takes part in the Madison County Volunteer Lawyers Program, providing legal help through that local effort. These affiliations connect her to fellow practitioners and to avenues for court-related volunteer work.

Her practice includes criminal defense work and court-appointed guardian ad litem matters. In criminal cases she represents clients through arraignments, motions practice and trial when necessary. As a guardian ad litem she investigates family circumstances, interviews parties and prepares reports for judges who are deciding custody and welfare questions. The two types of work require different skills; one demands attention to constitutional and procedural safeguards, the other calls for fact-finding and clear communication about a child’s needs.

Colleagues describe Brown as methodical in preparation and straightforward in court. She combines courtroom practice with volunteer service in Madison County, often handling cases that intersect family law and juvenile proceedings. She maintains her practice in Alabama and remains active in local bar activities and volunteer legal programs. Her present work centers on criminal defense and representing children and families as a guardian ad litem.
