About V. Joy
V. Joy Edwards built her legal foundation at Huntingdon College, where she completed a bachelor’s degree in pre-law in 1996. She went on to earn her J.D. from Rutgers School of Law–Camden in 1999. Those years established a steady path into Georgia’s legal community, and by 2001 she was a member of the State Bar of Georgia.
Early in her career she worked inside the state court system. From 2001 she served as a staff lawyer in the State Court of Cobb County for Judge Robert McDuff. She returned to the courthouse in 2003 to serve on the staff for Judge David Darden. Those positions placed her in the daily flow of state court dockets. She observed judicial decisionmaking and handled the kinds of tasks that keep a courtroom functioning.
In 2006 she moved into private practice as the managing lawyer at The Edwards Law Group. She has led that firm for two decades. Her role combines case management, client counseling and overseeing the firm’s operations. Over the years she has maintained active ties to local and state bar organizations while running the practice.
Professional involvement has been a steady part of her career. She has been a member of the Cobb County Bar Association and its Family Law Section since 2005. She joined the Northwest Bar Association in 2011. The State Bar of Georgia lists her as a member beginning in 2001, and she served on the bar’s Unlicensed Practice of Law Standing Committee from 2015 through 2019. In 2007 she graduated from the Young Lawyers Division Leadership Academy. Those memberships reflect an ongoing presence in Georgia’s legal circles.
Her work draws on both court-side experience and years managing an independent practice. She has handled matters that arise in state court and participates in the family law community through the Cobb County Bar’s Family Law Section. Colleagues describe her as familiar with the routines of Georgia state courts and the procedural demands those courts impose.
She continues to lead The Edwards Law Group in Georgia. She currently serves as managing lawyer at The Edwards Law Group, where she focuses on family law and state court matters in Georgia.
