About Travis Evan
Travis Evan Rice built his legal foundation through a steady progression of education and hands-on work. He earned a J.D. from the University of Idaho College of Law in 2015 after completing a B.S. in history at Brigham Young University–Idaho in 2010. Earlier steps in his education include a G.E.D. completed in 2006. Those years set the stage for a career that moved quickly from support roles into advocacy.
He began working in the local legal community as a legal secretary in the Canyon County Prosecuting Attorney’s office in 2010. That early exposure to prosecutorial work gave him a view of case preparation and courtroom procedure from the government side. In 2013 he served as a judicial extern for the Third Judicial District, an experience that added perspective on the bench and how judges handle evidence and motions. By 2014 he was serving under a limited license as an assistant public defender at the Mimura Law Office, representing clients who could not afford private counsel. In 2017 he opened his own practice, operating as Travis Rice Lawyer at Law, PLLC.
Across those roles he encountered both prosecution and defense perspectives. The mix is reflected in how he approaches cases: attention to procedure, careful review of records, and clear communication with clients about options and trade-offs. His time in public offices required quick assessment of legal issues and often involved high-pressure deadlines. His externship exposed him to motion practice and opinion writing at the trial court level. Together these experiences shape a working style that values preparation and practical problem solving.
Rice holds current membership in the State Bar of Idaho. He practices in Idaho and handles matters that stem from his background in criminal and public defense work as well as the procedural skills gained in prosecutorial and judicial settings. Colleagues and clients see a lawyer who moves between courtroom demands and client meetings without losing sight of the basic tasks: gather facts, identify legal issues, and set a course for resolution. He maintains his practice through Travis Rice Lawyer at Law, PLLC and represents clients in matters arising under Idaho law. His current practice focuses on handling legal matters for clients in Idaho.
