About Tracey A

Tracey A Wood began her academic path in Wisconsin, attending Marquette University before earning her law degree at the University of Wisconsin Law School. Her training combines a Midwestern undergraduate foundation with a legal education grounded in the state she would come to practice in.

Wood moved into criminal defense early in her career. Over time she assumed leadership roles in several local and national organizations. She served as a Regent of the National College of DUI Defense from 2010 to 2013. She has led the Wisconsin Association for Criminal Defense Lawyers as its president and previously served as president of the Dane County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. Those posts put her in the company of practicing defense attorneys and policy discussions about criminal justice in Wisconsin.

Her courtroom admissions include the state of Wisconsin, the Seventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. She holds certifications tied to impaired-driving work: she completed the Standardized Field Sobriety Testing course through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and is certified as a Standardized Field Sobriety Test instructor. Those credentials complement trial experience in cases that often hinge on scientific testing and officer observations.

Wood maintains memberships in several professional organizations. She is active in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and holds membership in the American Bar Association and the Dane County Bar Association. Her involvement with NORML dates back to 1993 and continues today. Locally, she remains connected to Dane County criminal defense practitioners through ongoing participation in the county association she once led.

Her practice is based in Middleton, and she also sees clients at a downtown office by appointment only. Colleagues and clients encounter a lawyer who blends courtroom experience with a specialization in impaired-driving issues, informed by instructor-level training in field sobriety testing and years of organizational leadership.

Wood’s work reflects sustained engagement in criminal defense networks at the local and national levels. She handles matters that require familiarity with DUI procedures, evidence related to intoxication, and broader criminal defense strategies. She currently concentrates her practice on criminal defense and DUI-related cases.
