Townsend Myers is a seasoned criminal defense attorney based in New Orleans, Louisiana, bringing over 30 years of experience to the legal field. In 1998, he founded NOLA Criminal Law, a firm dedicated exclusively to criminal defense. The firm addresses many legal issues, including misdemeanors, DUI/DWI charges, felony cases, and federal criminal matters. Myers’ commitment to criminal defense is evident in his practice, where he prioritizes the needs and rights of his clients. A 1989 graduate of the University of South Carolina Honors College, Myers graduated magna cum laude. He then pursued a Juris Doctor (J.D.) at the University of Chicago Law School, where he earned his degree in 1993.
During his time at law school, he completed a clinical education program focused on criminal law, which laid the groundwork for his future career. This hands-on experience gave him essential skills and insights into the details of criminal defense. Following law school, Myers began his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender with the Cook County Public Defender’s Office in Chicago. This role provided him with invaluable courtroom experience and a understanding of the challenges faced by defendants. In 1996, he returned to New Orleans, where he established his professional career with the Orleans Parish Public Defender’s Office. This position further solidified his commitment to defending the rights of individuals accused of crimes.
In early 1998, Myers took a significant step by founding NOLA Criminal Law. His goal was to create a practice that emphasized clear and honest communication with clients while providing effective criminal defense representation. Over the course of his career, he has handled well over 4,000 felony criminal cases, hundreds of DUI/DWI cases, and numerous misdemeanor and traffic cases. Myers is admitted to practice in Louisiana and Illinois, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
