About Jacob K.
Jacob K. Weixler trained first as a student of politics and law. He earned his B.A. at George Washington University before completing his J.D. at the University of Michigan Law School in 2010. The combination of a national undergraduate education and a top-tier law degree helped set the stage for a steady climb through large-firm practice to an independent practice of his own.
He began his legal career in New Orleans as an associate at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in 2011. Early on he worked in teams on complex matters that required coordination across offices and specialties. In 2014 he moved to Locke Lord LLP where he continued in associate roles, taking on more responsibility in case management and client counseling. Two years later he joined Schonekas Evans McGoey & McEachin LLC as an associate, a post he held until striking out on his own.
In 2020 he founded Weixler Law LLC. The decision followed nearly a decade inside national and regional firms. Those years provided experience in litigation practice, procedural strategy, and appellate work. The move to form a boutique practice allowed him to manage cases directly and choose the matters he would carry forward.
Weixler holds admissions in Florida and Louisiana and is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Those credentials reflect a practice that spans state and federal forums. He has worked on matters that required familiarity with both trial-level practice and the rules and briefing standards that govern appeals.
He is active in professional circles. He is a member of the Federal Bar Association’s New Orleans Chapter and serves on a board within the Young Lawyers Division.
