About Todd

Todd Hesel built his legal foundation in two different classrooms. He earned his B.A. from Bucknell University in 2000 and then returned to Maryland for law school, receiving his J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 2008. Those years set the stage for a career practiced largely inside the courts and conference rooms of Maryland.

After law school, Hesel moved into private practice. He joined Silverman Thompson, where he has been a member of the firm. His work there has tied him closely to the state’s legal community. Over time he has developed familiarity with Maryland procedure and the rhythms of litigation and case management in the state.

Hesel is admitted to practice in Maryland and is also admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court. The latter admission is a credential that permits him to participate in proceedings that reach the highest federal tribunal. In Maryland, his bar membership remains current, and he maintains an active presence in the state’s legal circles.

Colleagues describe him as steady and thorough in his approach to matters. He has worked alongside other attorneys at Silverman Thompson on cases that require careful factual development and appellate awareness. His professional affiliations include ongoing membership in the Maryland State Bar, where he keeps abreast of changes in court rules and professional standards.

Outside of the courtroom routine, Hesel’s path reflects a conventional trajectory: liberal arts undergraduate training followed by professional legal education and then practice at a regional firm. That path has kept him close to Maryland’s legal institutions while providing access to federal procedural avenues. He remains based at Silverman Thompson and handles matters arising in Maryland and cases that can be brought at the federal level.

Today, Hesel practices at Silverman Thompson. He is admitted in Maryland and before the U.S. Supreme Court, and his current practice centers on matters arising in Maryland and filings eligible for federal review.
