About Timothy John
Timothy John Billick studied business and philosophy at Purdue University before turning to law at the University of Washington School of Law, where he concentrated on intellectual property. He also completed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam through NCEES. That mix of technical and legal training has shaped the trajectory of his career.
His entry into the field came through public service. In 2012 he interned at the Federal Trade Commission. The following year he worked as a licensing analyst for University of Washington Co-Motion, the university's technology transfer office. Those early roles exposed him to the intersection of research, licensing and regulation.
Billick moved into private practice in 2014 as an intellectual property associate at Mann Law Group. He spent two years there before joining Lowe Graham Jones as an associate in 2016. In 2018 he took an intellectual property lawyer position at Christensen O Connor Johnson Kindness. In 2020 he began practicing through TBillick Law PLLC as a managing member.
He is admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit, the Federal Circuit and in Washington state. He is also registered as a U.S. patent practitioner with the USPTO. Those credentials support work that spans patent prosecution, trademark matters and licensing. He has handled filings and client counseling that draw on both legal analysis and technical understanding.
Billick’s association memberships reflect steady engagement with the IP community. He joined the International Trademark Association in 2012. He served as Young Lawyer Liaison for the Washington State Bar Association in 2016–2017. Since 2015 he has been active in the King County Bar Association and has chaired its Intellectual Property Section. He is also listed with the Copyright Association of the USA beginning in 2016.
Clients and colleagues describe him as methodical and pragmatic. He brought an analytical approach from his engineering and business studies to licensing work at UW Co-Motion, and he carried that approach into firm practice. His career path shows a steady move from regulatory and university roles into boutique and firm environments where IP counseling and litigation intersect.
Today Billick practices through TBillick Law PLLC. He handles patent prosecution, trademark counseling, licensing matters and related litigation in federal courts and before the USPTO.
