About Alykhan Anil
Alykhan Anil Sunderji built a legal career that moved from large firm litigation rooms to in-house suites at a global technology company, and then into his own practice. He earned a B.A. in Industrial Relations from McGill University in 2005 and completed a J.D. at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law in 2009. Those campuses shaped his early approach to workplace and commercial law, and they set the stage for a mix of private- and public-facing legal work.
He began his professional life at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP as an associate in 2009. The role exposed him to complex corporate matters and high-stakes transactions. In 2013 he moved in-house to Amazon.com as corporate counsel. That shift marked the start of a long tenure at Amazon where his responsibilities expanded from transactional drafting to addressing regulatory and operational questions across borders.
By 2015 he was leading legal efforts for Amazon.ca, handling issues that touch Canadian operations and cross-border commerce. Three years later he took on a different slice of the business as head of legal for Amazon Fashion. Those positions required him to reconcile fast-moving commercial priorities with compliance obligations and vendor relationships. He dealt with commercial contracts, partner agreements, product-related legal concerns and policies that affect online retail and supply chains.
In 2021 Sunderji founded Sunder Legal and moved into private practice as principal lawyer. The transition from a large corporate environment to a small practice allowed him to apply in-house experience to client matters that often intersect with technology, retail and international commerce. He advises on contract drafting and negotiation, regulatory questions, and matters where business strategy and legal risk meet.
Sunderji is licensed to practice in Washington and New York. His background combines big-law training, several years of in-house counsel work at a major e-commerce company, and the autonomy of leading his own firm. Colleagues describe him as pragmatic in approach and attentive to the operational implications of legal decisions.
He continues to operate Sunder Legal, handling matters that draw on his experience in corporate and commercial law for clients involved in e-commerce, retail and cross-border transactions. His current practice focuses on contractual and regulatory issues for businesses operating in the tech and retail sectors.
