About Thomas Richard

Thomas Richard Anapol has built a steady presence in civil litigation over three decades. He has taken cases into court and into complex litigation dockets. His work includes large product-liability matters that required coordinating teams, experts and discovery across multiple jurisdictions.

He earned his bachelor's degree from Boston University in 1988 and received his J.D. from Widener University Delaware School of Law in 1991. Those years set the foundation for a trial-oriented career built on courtroom procedure and case management.

By 2012 he was serving as Co-Lead Counsel in the Biomet metal-on-metal hip implant litigation. That role placed him amid one of the larger product-liability dockets of the early 2010s, a multi-district and multi-state effort that required managing centralized discovery and case strategy. The Biomet matter is one of several complex product cases in which he has played a principal role.

Anapol maintains active ties to trial bar organizations. He sits on the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice and serves as its Vice President. He is also active in the American Association for Justice, where he participates in sections and committee work including litigation groups formed around metal-on-metal and Biomet hip litigation. He is a member of the Pennsylvania State Bar. Those roles keep him engaged with developments in evidence, procedure and trial advocacy.

He is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and operates out of a Philadelphia office. His work has involved coordination across state and federal courts in the region and has required managing expert testimony, electronic discovery and settlement processes when appropriate. Colleagues and opposing counsel have encountered him most often in cases that involve medical devices and mass tort procedures.

Over the years he has combined courtroom work with the organizational duties that large, multi-plaintiff cases demand. He has led discovery teams, coordinated filings and worked on case consolidation efforts when multiple claims overlapped. The practice has required frequent interaction with experts, court-appointed leadership and other plaintiffs' counsel.

He continues to practice from his Philadelphia office and represents clients in product liability and mass-tort litigation involving medical devices.
