About Thomas R. Gorman
Thomas R. Gorman III earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Marketing from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2002. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in 2006. Those academic steps set the foundation for a career focused on courtroom work and criminal law practice.
Early in his legal career he served as an assistant state attorney in the Office of the State Attorney for the 20th Judicial Circuit in 2009. That role put him behind the prosecution table and gave him hands-on experience with trials, evidentiary hearings and case preparation. The work demanded quick legal judgment and familiarity with courtroom procedure.
After his time in the prosecutor’s office, Gorman remained active in legal circles that concentrate on criminal practice and trial advocacy. Since 2015 he has been a member of the Collier County Bar Association. He is also listed as a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section and the Florida Bar Criminal Law Section. Those affiliations suggest ongoing engagement with trial practice and criminal defense issues.
Colleagues describe him as a lawyer who spends much of his time in and around the courtroom. He has experience handling contested matters that require litigation skills, from making and opposing motions to conducting jury trials. His background on both sides of criminal cases gives him perspective on how prosecutors build cases and how defense counsel respond.
Gorman’s approach to cases is practical. He prepares for hearings and trials in a methodical way, focusing on the facts, applicable law and strategic choices that affect outcomes. He has worked on matters that turn on witness credibility, forensic evidence and procedural safeguards. The record shows consistent involvement in litigation rather than transactional or regulatory practice.
Outside of court, he keeps current through the professional groups he joined in 2015. Those memberships provide access to continuing legal education, practice updates and networking with other trial lawyers across Florida. They also reflect an interest in the mechanics of criminal law and trial procedure.
He is licensed to practice in Florida and maintains an active professional presence in the state. His current practice concentrates on criminal law and trial litigation in Florida courts.
