About Theresa
Theresa Spearing built a legal path that bridges intellectual property and day-to-day client work. She earned a B.A. in history and political science from Rivier College in 1997. She then attended the University of New Hampshire School of Law, where she completed a master’s degree in intellectual property in 2000 and received her J.D. in 2002. Those academic credentials have informed much of her subsequent practice.
Her early years in the profession were spent in a series of small-firm and solo-practice settings. In 2004 she worked at Nicosia & Associates, P.C., and also at the Law Office of Gary M. Horwitz. That period gave her exposure to litigation and transactional matters handled at the firm level. In 2006 she joined the Law Office of Louis S. Haskell, adding to her experience in private-practice environments and client counseling.
In 2008 she opened the Law Office of Theresa M. Spearing. Running her own office required wearing many hats: lawyer, manager and client advocate. Her background in intellectual property and the additional training she later pursued informed the kinds of matters she accepted. She handled disputes and transactional work that drew on both legal research and practical negotiation.
Spearing returned to a firm setting in 2016, joining Douglas, Leonard & Garvey, P.C., where she practiced alongside other attorneys on more complex files. In 2019 she moved to Clark Law, PLLC. She maintains bar admission in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire, enabling her to represent clients across state lines and in a range of civil matters.
Her credentials include training in mediation skills for intellectual property and commercial disputes through the John Paul Jones Group. That certification complements her litigation background and has informed how she approaches dispute resolution—often emphasizing whether negotiation or mediation might resolve a case more efficiently than prolonged litigation.
Colleagues and clients describe her as practical and methodical in handling files. She has navigated the realities of solo practice and the dynamics of firm work, giving her a perspective on strategy and client service in different settings. She is currently at Clark Law, PLLC, where her practice centers on intellectual property matters and the mediation of commercial disputes.
