About Theodore

Theodore Piteo earned his J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2005, completing coursework in business and environmental law. He arrived at law school after undergraduate studies and left prepared for practice at the intersection of commercial and regulatory issues. His legal education offered classroom training and clinical experience that shaped his early approach to client work and case preparation.

After law school Piteo gained admission to practice in both Oregon and Ohio. He built a practice that touches on bankruptcy and consumer credit matters. Over the years he has handled filings, creditor negotiations, and client counseling. He has also appeared in courts that oversee bankruptcy matters and has worked on related transactional issues. He balances courtroom time with direct client work, explaining complex procedures in plain terms.

Piteo joined the Bankruptcy Local Rules Committee in 2012. On that committee he has reviewed procedural proposals, suggested edits to local rules, and participated in discussions about how rules affect both practitioners and the public. His committee service has kept him close to rule changes and local judicial practice. He also volunteers for Credit Abuse Resistance Education (C.A.R.E.) beginning in 2011. Through C.A.R.E. he has taught or assisted with financial literacy programs aimed at preventing consumer credit problems before they escalate to bankruptcy.

Colleagues describe Piteo as methodical in his file preparation and direct in client meetings. He tends to break complex matters into manageable steps so clients can make informed choices. He has worked on consumer bankruptcy filings, creditor relief actions, and related adversary proceedings. His mix of committee work and volunteer teaching gives him both a procedural and an educational perspective on consumer finance issues.

Piteo practices out of Michael D. O Brien & Associates, P.C. In that setting he handles individual and small-business bankruptcy matters and advises clients on credit and debt problems. He draws on his years of practice in two states to manage filings that involve multistate considerations and to work with local counsel when necessary. He remains active in the local bankruptcy bar and in community outreach through C.A.R.E.

He currently practices at Michael D. O Brien & Associates, P.C., concentrating on bankruptcy and consumer credit matters.
