About Tayo
Tayo Okunade earned his law degree from the University of Denver, enrolling in 2006 and graduating with a J.D. in 2009. He arrived at the law with a clear interest in litigation and appellate work. Law school years included research and clinic work that shaped his approach to written advocacy and legal analysis.
After law school, Okunade gained eligibility to practice in Colorado and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. That dual admission has guided much of his work. He handles filings and court appearances in Colorado courts and prepares appellate briefs and related filings at the federal level when matters progress to the Tenth Circuit.
Colleagues describe him as methodical. He takes a steady approach to case preparation. Documents and procedural rules receive close attention. He favors clear legal writing and thorough record development. Those habits have informed his courtroom strategy and appeals practice.
Outside the courtroom he has maintained professional ties that extend beyond his daily caseload. Since 2017 he has been a member of the African Leadership Group. That membership places him in a network of professionals and community leaders who share perspectives on public policy, business, and civic engagement.
Okunade’s practice has involved both trial-court work in Colorado and appellate matters in the federal system. He has experience drafting motions, producing appellate briefs and handling the procedural steps that move cases from state courts into the Tenth Circuit when appropriate. His work requires attention to deadlines and skill in presenting legal issues in writing.
He has balanced courtroom responsibilities with pro bono and community-oriented efforts when opportunities have arisen. Those activities have complemented his litigation docket and connected him to civic concerns in the region. Clients and peers note his consistent engagement with the practical side of litigation.
Today he maintains a practice in Colorado, engaging in both state-court matters and federal appellate work. He currently handles matters in Colorado and appellate cases in the Tenth Circuit.
