About Taylor R.
Taylor R. Oyaas earned her undergraduate degree in English and Professional Writing from the University of Memphis in 2014 and completed her J.D. at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 2017. Her time in law school included work on the law review and hands-on clinic experience that shaped the early contours of her practice.
While a student, Oyaas served as a research editor on the University of Memphis Law Review and worked as a research assistant for Professor Andrew J. McClurg. She took part in the Child & Family Litigation Clinic as a student lawyer in 2016, gaining courtroom exposure and client-contact experience. Those clinic hours were complemented by summer and part-time law clerk positions at local firms dating back to 2015.
After law school she clerked for The Honorable Chief Magistrate Judge Diane K. Vescovo in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. That clerkship, completed in 2017, placed her inside federal court proceedings and offered a close view of judicial decision-making. She moved into private practice later that year, joining Shea, Moskovitz & McGhee, PLLC as an associate.
Oyaas’s career in private practice advanced quickly. In 2019 she became a lawyer and non-equity partner at Thomas, White & Gill, PLLC, where she handled a range of family law matters. In 2021 she joined Mullins Whitfield White & Hillis, PLLC, continuing work in family law and related areas. Her résumé shows steady progression from student clinics and clerkships into leadership roles at small and mid-size firms.
Her professional activity extends beyond the office. Oyaas has held successive officer roles in the Memphis Bar Association’s Family Law Section, serving as secretary in 2019–2020, vice chair in 2020–2021, and chair beginning in 2021. She has also been active in the Association for Women Lawyers and holds memberships in the Tennessee Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Memphis Bar Association, and the State Bar of Tennessee.
Colleagues describe her as attentive to case details and responsive to clients. She works mainly in Tennessee courts and maintains an active practice at Mullins Whitfield White & Hillis, PLLC, where she handles family law and related matters.
