About T. Warren
T. Warren Jones has spent his career anchored in Pennsylvania courts and bar organizations. He read English at Northwestern University before turning to law at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. The shift from humanities to law informed a methodical approach to argument and writing that colleagues have noted in briefs and courtroom presentations.
After law school he built a practice that led to a partnership at MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton. He is admitted to practice before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, in Pennsylvania trial courts and in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Those admissions reflect a practice that moves between state and federal forums.
Jones’s professional affiliations track a long engagement with trial practice and defense work. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. He holds membership in the Pennsylvania State Bar, the Erie County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He has also served as a Master in an American Inns of Court chapter, a role that brings experienced lawyers and judges together to address ethics, skills and professionalism.
In 1999 he served as President of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute, a position he held into 2000. That leadership role placed him among lawyers who represent business and institutional interests in civil litigation across the state. It also provided a platform for interaction with insurance counsel, corporate counsel and trial teams on matters that proceed through state courts and, at times, into federal appellate review.
Colleagues describe Jones as deliberate in courtroom preparation and concise in courtroom presentation. He balances written advocacy with trial work. His professional honors, including fellowship in national trial and bar organizations, reflect his standing among peers who try significant civil cases.
At MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton he continues to handle litigation matters that require experience in Pennsylvania courts and in the Third Circuit. He participates in bar activities and professional education programs while maintaining an active litigation docket. He currently concentrates his practice on civil litigation in Pennsylvania state and federal courts.
