About Lydia Horan
Lydia Horan Caparosa earned her law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2017 after completing dual undergraduate degrees at Pennsylvania State University in 2011— a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in International Politics. Her academic record shows an interest in both business and public affairs, a combination that shaped the early years of her career.
Before entering law school, she held a series of roles in industry and corporate support. In 2011 she worked as an executive assistant to the general counsel and CFO at Penn United Technologies, Inc., and served as a project planner for Joy Mining Machinery. By 2012 she was managing client accounts and departments at Ohio Lumex Company. Those positions exposed her to corporate operations and regulatory matters prior to her move into legal work.
While in law school she gained courtroom and in-house experience through internships and judicial placements. She was a judicial intern for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania in 2015. That same year she completed a legal internship with AECOM/URS/EG&G. In 2016 she interned at Duquesne Light Company and also worked as an administrative assistant at Murphy Taylor, LLC. These roles gave her a mix of exposure to litigation, corporate legal departments, and regulatory practice.
After receiving her J.D., she joined MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton as a lawyer in 2017. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Those admissions allow her to represent clients in both state and federal proceedings.
Caparosa maintains memberships in the Allegheny County Bar Association, the Erie County Bar Association, and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. Her participation in local and state bar organizations reflects an ongoing connection to the professional community across western Pennsylvania.
Her background blends corporate support roles, judicial experience, and in-house internships, followed by several years of practice at a regional law firm. She is currently a lawyer at MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton and represents clients in matters in Pennsylvania and in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
