About Steven Matthew
Steven Matthew Laird grew up in North Carolina and pursued a double undergraduate course of study at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning B.A. degrees in political science and psychology in 2002. He went on to earn his J.D. from Campbell Law School in 2009. The combination of social science and legal training shaped a methodical approach to problem solving that has marked his work since law school.
Laird began his legal career immediately after law school. In 2009 he joined Sullivan & Williams as a lawyer and moved to Sullivan & Snow in 2010. Over the next several years he developed practice experience at those firms and then advanced to a senior associate role at Sullivan Law in 2015. Colleagues say he handled a variety of matters during that period, gaining familiarity with courtroom procedures and client counseling.
In 2018 Laird launched his own practice, Laird Law. Building a solo and small-firm practice required shifting from team-based roles to managing a full slate of obligations: client intake, case strategy, and the administrative work that keeps a firm running. He has continued to practice law in North Carolina throughout his career, maintaining ties to the local legal community.
Outside of his firm work, Laird holds memberships in professional associations relevant to his practice. He maintains those connections to stay current on developments in state law and to collaborate with peers. That professional network has been a recurring resource for case work and professional development.
At Laird Law PLLC he manages the office and directs client matters. The firm operates out of North Carolina and serves clients across the state. He now practices law in North Carolina through Laird Law PLLC, handling client matters from that office.
