Steven M. Sweat is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1996. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Sweat is the principal attorney at Steven M. Sweat, Personal Injury Lawyers, APC, a law firm headquartered in Los Angeles, California. He has been practicing law for over 20 years, serving clients throughout Southern California.
Mr. Sweat earned his Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law in 1995. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at Florida State University – Panama City campus, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1992. During his time at California Western, he served as the Vice President for the International Law Society.
Mr. Sweat concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury law, employment law, and civil litigation. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving workplace discrimination, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, and premises liability claims. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Sweat has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Los Angeles, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at Reeder Law Corporation from 2000 to 2001.
Mr. Sweat is an active member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles. He holds membership in the American Association for Justice. He is also a certified mediator through the Los Angeles County Superior Court mediation program. Mr. Sweat is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of Los Angeles County effectively.
