About Steven L.

Steven L. Casper grew up choosing law after an early interest in sports administration led him to Ohio University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Industry in 2005. He continued his studies at the University of Dayton School of Law, completing his J.D. in 2009. Those years shaped his approach to client work: straightforward and procedural, informed by an eye for detail.

He began his legal career the year he graduated law school. In 2009 he joined Casper & Casper LLC as an associate. He handled deadlines, administrative hearings and appeals. Over the next eight years he took on more responsibility. In 2017 he became a partner at Casper, Casper & Casper. The firm maintains offices in Hamilton, Middletown, Dayton and Cincinnati. That network keeps him connected to municipal courts, state administrative agencies and federal dockets across the region.

Casper’s practice is built around claims and appeals in the disability system. He is an active member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR) and has been listed as an active member since 2009. He has presented to clinical and legal audiences at Grand Rounds starting in 2014, bringing case-law and procedural updates to physicians and other health professionals. Those appearances reflect a frequent crossover in his work: translating medical records into legal arguments and explaining legal processes to nonlawyers.

He is admitted to practice in Ohio and before the Federal Circuit, a pairing that supports work on both administrative appeals and federal litigation when matters advance beyond state agencies. In the courtroom and at the hearing table he handles claims, prepares briefs and pursues appeals when necessary. His caseload includes initial hearings before administrative law judges and cases that proceed to federal review.

Colleagues describe Casper as methodical in preparing records and practical in setting expectations with clients. He balances hearings and brief writing with the administrative duties that come from partnership. The firm’s multiple offices allow him to meet clients locally and to file appeals wherever regional practice requires. He continues to represent clients in Social Security disability claims and related appeals in Ohio and at the federal level.
