About Carlos
Carlos Warner built a career that started in county courtrooms and expanded to federal dockets. He began in public defense and carried those courtroom rhythms through more than two decades of practice.
Warner earned a B.A. in political science from Clarion University in 1993. He later attended the University of Akron School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1997. He also completed an M.A. in Public Administration at the University of Akron.
His first public post was as a deputy public defender at the Cuyahoga County Public Defender's Office in 1997. That role put him on the front lines of trial work early in his career. In 2004 he moved to the federal system as an assistant federal public defender. There he handled a range of federal matters and worked within the structures of federal sentencing and appellate practice.
In 2020 Warner joined Sherris Legal, PA as an attorney. The move followed years of representation in both state and federal courts. His résumé records steady progression from county-level defense to federal public defense and then to private practice.
He is admitted to practice in Ohio and in the District of Columbia. His credentials extend to federal forums, including the Sixth Circuit and the D.C. Circuit, as well as the Northern District of Ohio. Those admissions reflect a practice that spans trial courts and appellate panels.
Throughout his career Warner has worked inside public defender offices and in private practice. The public defender posts shaped his courtroom approach. The federal work broadened his exposure to appellate procedure and federal sentencing law. He also maintains professional memberships relevant to his work.
Colleagues describe him as steady under pressure and attentive to procedural detail. His record shows long-term engagement with defense work and an emphasis on litigation. He has balanced trial responsibilities with appellate tasks across several jurisdictions.
He now practices at Sherris Legal, PA, where he represents clients in trial and appellate proceedings.
