About Steven

Steven Heisler built a practical foundation in business before turning to the law. He earned an A.A.S. in Business from St. Clair County Community College, followed by a B.B.L. in Business from Baker College. He later completed his J.D. in Litigation at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 1998.

After law school Heisler moved into litigation practice. His training in trial work shaped the early years of his career. Over time he developed experience in contested matters in both state and federal forums. He is admitted to practice in Michigan and before the Eastern District of Michigan Federal Court. He is also admitted to the bar of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Heisler has maintained active membership in the State Bar of Michigan since 2002. That rolling membership reflects steady participation in the state’s professional community. He has handled civil litigation matters that required appearances in trial court and motions practice. He has worked on cases that touch on procedural and substantive legal issues common in general civil practice.

Colleagues describe Heisler as methodical in preparing cases. He approaches litigation with attention to evidence, court procedure and client objectives. His background in business informs how he evaluates disputes that involve commercial concerns. He has experience managing discovery, arguing dispositive motions and preparing matters for trial when resolution is not reached earlier.

Heisler’s admissions to multiple jurisdictions give him access to both state and federal dockets. Admission to the U.S. Supreme Court is a credential he holds, even though most day-to-day work occurs in Michigan courts and the federal district. He handles matters that require courtroom appearances, file drafting and negotiation.

He maintains a private practice focused on litigation in Michigan. His current practice concentrates on civil litigation and trial work in Michigan state and federal courts.
