About Steven

Steven Boris built his legal foundation in the classroom. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Wayne State University in 1974. He went on to study sociology and criminology at Boston University, receiving a Master of Arts in 1978. He completed his legal education at Suffolk University Law School, where he obtained his J.D. in 1982.

His career has been anchored at Krasnow, Keller & Boris, where he serves as a partner. He works on matters that bring his earlier academic interests in sociology and criminology into a legal setting. Over the years he has combined courtroom experience and alternative dispute resolution roles. The result is a practice built around adjudicative and dispute resolution processes.

Arbitration and mediation have become central to Boris’s professional profile. He is an AAA Commercial Claims Arbitrator and serves on the MBA Legal Fee Arbitration Board as an arbitrator. He also holds a mediator position for the Boston Bar Association/Boston Municipal Court. Those positions require adjudicating disputed claims and resolving fee and commercial disputes outside of traditional trials. His peers know him through these roles as well as through long-standing memberships in the American Arbitration Association and the Maritime Law Association of the United States.

He maintains active involvement in local bar organizations. He is a member of the Boston Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association. He is also involved with the BBA Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts of Massachusetts, Inc., reflecting an interest in supporting legal resources for creative communities.

Those associations shape how he practices. They inform his approach to case management, settlement discussions, and the procedural issues that arise in both civil litigation and alternative forums. He has handled matters that require careful procedural navigation and neutral decision-making. His work often involves commercial claim arbitrations, fee disputes, and cases that benefit from mediated settlement efforts.

Colleagues describe him as steady in the hearing room and exacting in procedural matters. Outside the hearing room he participates in panels and local bar activities tied to dispute resolution and maritime law. He continues to accept appointments and engagements that draw on his arbitration and mediation experience.

He practices at Krasnow, Keller & Boris, where his work centers on arbitration, mediation and adjudicative roles in commercial and fee dispute matters.
