About Steven Amir

Steven Amir Hemmat is the founder and principal attorney at The Hemmat Law Group, located in Seattle, Washington. With over 35 years of legal experience, he has built a diverse practice that encompasses personal injury, family law, divorce, business law, arbitration and mediation, and civil rights. Admitted to the Washington State Bar Association on October 29, 1986, Mr. Hemmat has established himself as a prominent figure in the legal community. Mr. Hemmat earned his Juris Doctor from the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College in 1986. During his time in law school, he served as an Acting Editor for the Environmental Law Review. His scholarly contributions include the article "Parks, People and Private Property: The National Park Service and Eminent Domain," which was published in the 16th volume of Environmental Law.

Prior to his legal education, he completed his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a minor in History, at Whitman College in 1983. Before founding The Hemmat Law Group in 1995, Mr. Hemmat worked as a Trial Attorney in the Civil Division and Commercial Litigation Branch of the U.S. Department of Justice from 1988 to 1990. His role involved handling complex cases that required both legal acumen and strategic negotiation skills. Additionally, he served as an Attorney Advisor for the U.S. Department of the Interior, Office of the Solicitor, from 1987 to 1988, where he provided legal guidance on matters related to federal land management. Hemmat specializes in complex litigation and high-asset disputes. His experience also allows him to serve as an experienced mediator, facilitating resolutions in contentious cases. The U.S. Supreme Court. In addition to his practice, Mr. Hemmat is an active member of the Washington State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He has contributed to the legal profession by teaching continuing legal education classes on family law and mediation.
