About Jeffery Myra
Jeffery Myra Wheat took a nontraditional path into law. He earned an LL.B. from the University of South Africa (LL.B., 2014) and later completed an LL.M. at the University of Washington School of Law (LL.M., 2018), where his studies included litigation and aspects of artificial intelligence. Those academic steps gave him a footing in two legal systems and a technical context for contemporary disputes.
His early years in practice were spent in South Africa. He worked as a candidate lawyer at Geo Isserow & Friedman beginning in 2014 and moved on to an associate role at Natalie Lubbe & Associates in 2016. Those positions involved courtroom work and client counseling, and they exposed him to commercial and procedural matters that shaped his approach to case preparation.
After relocating to the United States, Wheat augmented his training with postgraduate study in Seattle. The LL.M. program broadened his view of U.S. litigation methods and introduced comparative perspectives on evidence and procedure. He also completed short programs in English common law through the University of London International Programmes and took a course in European business law at Lund University School of Economics and Management, reflecting an interest in cross-border legal frameworks.
In 2018 he became the managing member of Wheat Legal PLLC. The Seattle-based office lists business law among its activities and serves local commercial clients. His experience spans firm-side responsibilities and case-level work. He handles contract disputes, corporate governance questions and transactional matters for small and mid-sized enterprises, balancing client-facing work with the administrative responsibilities that come with running a practice.
Wheat holds membership in the Law Society of the Northern Provinces in South Africa and is licensed to practice in Washington. He also joined several professional organizations in 2019 and continues to maintain those ties; his memberships include the American Bar Association, the King County Bar Association and the Mercer Island Chamber of Commerce. These affiliations keep him connected to local business networks and bar resources.
His continuing education and cross-jurisdictional experience inform how he approaches business and commercial issues. He practices from Wheat Legal PLLC’s Seattle business law office and currently directs his work toward business law, corporate matters and commercial dispute resolution.
