About Stephen M.

Stephen M. Lawler earned his law degree at the turn of the century after a steady climb through higher education. He completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of South Florida in 1997 and received his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2000. Those years set the groundwork for a career that has unfolded primarily in Florida and in the federal courts that serve the region.

He is admitted to practice in the state of Florida, before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida. That mix of state and federal admissions gives him the ability to take cases through multiple layers of the judicial system. His courtroom work and filings have been directed to venues that handle a broad range of civil matters.

Lawler practices at The Lawler Firm, P.A., where his work has centered on litigation and court advocacy. He has handled matters that move through pleading, motion practice, hearings and trial. When appeals are necessary, he has the credentials to carry those matters to the federal appellate level.

Colleagues describe him as thorough in preparation and direct in courtroom argument. He spends time drafting pleadings, preparing witnesses and developing the factual record the court will consider. That practical approach informs how cases are managed day to day. Clients encounter a steady pace of litigation tasks and a clear line of communication about next steps.

Outside of any single courtroom appearance, Lawler’s practice requires attention to procedural detail. Filing deadlines, jurisdictional questions and the mechanics of federal practice often shape case strategy. He focuses on meeting those demands and on presenting matters in a way that judges and opposing counsel can address efficiently.

He continues to work at The Lawler Firm, P.A., representing clients in both state and federal matters and appearing where necessary in the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida. He currently practices at The Lawler Firm, P.A., representing clients in state and federal courts.
