About Stephen M Collins
Stephen M Collins Jr. earned his J.D. from the Jones School of Law in 2010 after completing undergraduate studies at Auburn University, where he received a B.A. in political science, public law and conflict resolution in 2003. He followed a traditional path into the practice of law, combining classroom training with early professional experience that prepared him for civil litigation.
He joined Greene & Phillips as an associate in 2010, shortly after finishing law school. Six years later he became a partner at the firm in 2016. Those promotions track a steady rise through the ranks of a regional personal injury practice and reflect years spent handling claims and courtroom matters at a single firm.
Licensed to practice in Alabama, Collins has concentrated his work on personal injury litigation. He represents people who say they were harmed through another party’s negligence and moves cases through investigation, pleading and the discovery process. He handles negotiations on settlements and participates in hearings and trials when cases proceed to court. His work requires attention to medical records, insurance practices and the procedural demands of civil litigation.
At Greene & Phillips he splits time between the firm’s Mobile and Birmingham offices. Colleagues describe him as a lawyer who manages client files, consults with medical providers and coordinates the practical stages of case preparation. Over the years he has worked alongside other attorneys at the firm on matters typical to personal injury practices, including automobile accidents and other everyday tort claims.
Outside the office, Collins’s background in political science and conflict resolution informs how he approaches client communication and case strategy. He has remained at Greene & Phillips through changes in the law and the regional practice environment, moving from an entry-level lawyer role into partnership. He currently practices personal injury law at Greene & Phillips, handling cases out of the firm’s Mobile and Birmingham offices.
