About Shelly Jean
Shelly Jean John is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. She was admitted to the California State Bar in 1998. Her license is currently in active status. Ms. John is the founder and principal attorney at the Law Office of Shelly Jean John, a family law firm located in Ontario, California. She has been practicing law for over 25 years, serving clients throughout Southern California.
Ms. John earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1998. Prior to law school, she completed her undergraduate education at Northern Arizona University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications and Political Science in 1995. During her time at the University of San Francisco, she developed a strong foundation in legal principles, which has informed her approach to family law.
Ms. John's practice focuses on family law matters, including divorce, child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, property division, and prenuptial agreements. She represents clients at all stages of legal proceedings, from initial consultations and negotiations to mediation and, when necessary, litigation. Her firm offers a range of services, including full legal representation, mediation, unbundled legal services, and legal coaching, tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.
Throughout her career, Ms. John has handled cases in various courts, including the Superior Court of California for the County of San Bernardino and the Superior Court of California for the County of Riverside. She has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal. Prior to founding her own firm, she worked as an associate attorney at the Law Office of Dan L. Peelman in 1999, gaining experience in all areas of family law litigation.
Ms. John is an active member of the California State Bar and has served on the Board of Directors of Collaborative Divorce Professionals of the Inland Empire since 2014. She is also a trained mediator and has completed Interdisciplinary Collaborative Practice Training through the Southern California Mediation Association. Ms. John is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing her to effectively serve the diverse communities of Southern California.
