About Shawn H.
Shawn H. Smith earned his J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2008. He left law school prepared for courtroom work and for handling disputes outside the courthouse. His education set a clear course into litigation and practice life across state lines.
Smith began his legal career in Texas. In 2011 he worked at Soyars Law Offices. A short time later he opened a practice under his own name in 2012. He moved into trial work in 2015 while at Zinda and Davis, PLLC, where he served as a trial lawyer and sharpened his courtroom approach. Those years were marked by hands-on experience in contested matters and regular appearances before judges and juries.
By 2017 his résumé reflected both private practice and collaborative roles. He was listed as an associate at Soyars and Morgan Law, P.C. and also operated as a solo practitioner described as a lawyer and mediator. The dual roles exposed him to negotiated settlements as well as tried cases. In 2020 he took on the title of managing partner at the Law Offices of Shawn H. Smith, returning to a firm structure while overseeing its day-to-day work.
Smith is licensed in Texas and Colorado. He maintains professional ties across both states. His bar and association memberships include the Colorado Bar Association, where his membership dates from 2019 onward, and the San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, a membership he has held since 2013. He is also active in the Larimer County Bar Association. Those affiliations reflect the geographic spread of his practice and an interest in both trial advocacy and peer engagement.
Colleagues and clients see a practitioner who combines courtroom experience with alternative dispute skills. He has worked as a trial lawyer and as a mediator. That mix informs how he approaches cases and how he prepares for hearings and negotiations. He currently serves as managing partner at the Law Offices of Shawn H. Smith, where his practice focuses on trial litigation and dispute resolution.
