About Shaun B.
Shaun B. Adrian paired an engineering education with a law degree. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 1982 and a J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in 1989. That combination of technical training and legal study shaped the early arc of his career and informs how he approaches complex matters today.
After law school he gained admission to practice in Pennsylvania and in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He joined MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton and advanced to the firm’s partnership. Over more than three decades in practice he has handled matters in both state and federal forums and worked on cases that required careful attention to procedural detail as well as substantive law.
Adrian’s background suggests an ability to bridge technical and legal issues. He is active in trust and estate circles, serving on the Erie County Bar Association’s Trust & Estate Leadership Committee. That role involves working with colleagues on issues that affect estate planning, probate and trust administration in the local bar. He also participates in civic and financial oversight through service on the Flagship Niagara League’s Finance Committee.
At the firm level he is listed as a partner of MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton. His practice includes advising clients on estate planning and administration, and on business and financial matters that often intersect with those areas. He represents individuals and families in probate and trust administration, and he advises businesses on transactions and governance questions that have estate planning implications.
Colleagues describe him as methodical and steady in the courtroom and at the negotiating table. He maintains an active membership in the Pennsylvania State Bar and contributes time to local bar initiatives. His combined experience in engineering and law gives him a distinct viewpoint when matters require technical background or an appreciation for complex documentation.
He works from the MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton office and counsels clients across Pennsylvania, including appearances before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. His current practice focuses on estate planning, probate and trust administration, together with related business and financial matters.
