About Sean
Sean Potter graduated from the University of Florida College of Law in 1988 and has spent his career practicing in Pennsylvania. He built his legal foundation during law school and carried that training into trial work. His practice has centered on criminal defense matters for many years.
After earning his J.D., Potter began working in roles that placed him inside the criminal justice system. Over time he developed courtroom experience handling serious felony charges. He has maintained ties to statewide professional groups that keep defense lawyers informed about changes in law and procedure.
Potter is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania. He holds a Qualified Defense Counsel in Capital Cases certification from the Pennsylvania CLE Board, a credential that denotes training and approval to handle death-penalty litigation under Pennsylvania standards. That certification is one of the credentials that lawyers rely on when cases present the most severe possible penalties.
Professional memberships have been a consistent part of Potter’s career. He joined the Pennsylvania Bar Association in 2003 and remains a member. From 2003 to 2008 he belonged to the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association, and from 2008 to 2011 he was a member of the Pennsylvania Public Defenders Association. Since 2008 he has also held membership in the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, a group that connects defense attorneys across the state.
Potter’s practice has involved trial preparation, plea negotiations, and post-conviction work where appropriate. His courtroom work includes pretrial motions and evidence challenges, jury trials, and appellate briefing when cases move beyond the trial level. He has worked in both county courts and the appellate system in Pennsylvania.
He maintains an office under the name Law Office of Sean Potter, PC. The firm serves clients in criminal matters across Pennsylvania and takes on cases that require experience in serious felony and capital litigation. His current practice at the Law Office of Sean Potter, PC handles criminal defense, including capital and serious felony matters.
