About Samir
Samir Sarna began his path to law after completing a bachelor’s degree in marketing analysis and business management at Roger Williams University in 2003. He then earned his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2010. Those years framed an interest in courtroom work and public service that would shape his early career choices.
Fresh out of law school, Sarna took a legal internship at 113 Industries in 2010. The following year he moved into government work in Allegheny County. He served as a law clerk and then as a lawyer in the Office of the Public Defender, gaining hands-on experience representing clients in criminal cases. That same year he also worked as associate counsel in the Allegheny County Office of Conflict Counsel, handling matters where appointed counsel were required to avoid conflicts. Those roles put him in courtrooms across the county and tested his skills under pressure.
In 2013 Sarna joined the firm of The Law Offices of David S. Shrager. He spent that period in private practice, applying what he had learned in public defense to client representation in a range of criminal matters. A year later he became a partner at Worgul, Sarna & Ness, Criminal Defense Lawyers, LLC. As a partner he shares responsibility for trial preparation, client counseling and courtroom advocacy. His work there has involved both bench and jury trials, pretrial motions and negotiated resolutions.
Sarna maintains professional ties across Pennsylvania’s legal community. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the American Bar Association, the Allegheny County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. Those memberships reflect steady involvement in professional networks since the early 2010s and ongoing engagement with developments in criminal law and procedure.
Although his career has moved between public defender offices and private firms, a throughline is clear: courtroom advocacy. His early assignments in Allegheny County exposed him to high-volume dockets and complex ethical situations. Private practice allowed him to manage client relationships and case strategy in different settings. As a partner he balances supervisory duties with direct client work.
Sarna is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and continues to work in the Pittsburgh legal community. He handles a mix of trial-level criminal defense matters and pretrial litigation. He focuses on criminal defense in Pennsylvania.
