About Brian
Brian McDermott took an unconventional path to law. He earned a B.A. in sociology from the University of Pittsburgh, then stayed in town for his law degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2008. Those years in Pittsburgh shaped his view of law as a practical tool for everyday problems.
He was admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and began his career working in the state’s legal community. Over time he established his own practice and now operates The Law Office of Brian McDermott. He has handled matters across the state’s courts and administrative forums, building a practice around direct client work and courtroom advocacy.
McDermott’s background in sociology informs how he approaches clients and cases. He pays attention to the factual narrative as well as the legal theory. That combination helps when preparing pleadings, negotiating settlements, or presenting arguments before judges.
