About Russ
Russ Sipes has built a long career in the courtroom. He studied public affairs and environmental policy as an undergraduate at Indiana University, earning a B.S. in 1981. More than a decade later he returned to Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and received his J.D. in 1992.
After law school he established a practice centered in Indiana. He is admitted to practice in Indiana and is also credentialed to appear in U.S. District and U.S. Courts of Appeals. Those admissions have allowed him to handle matters in both state and federal settings over the years.
Sipes works through The Sipes Law Office. He has pursued litigation in trial courts and federal dockets. His professional affiliations reflect that path. He maintains memberships in several trial and bar organizations and serves as a Director of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association.
The list of organizations he belongs to is extensive. He is a current member of The American Association for Justice and The National Trial Lawyers. He is also affiliated with the West Virginia Association for Justice, the Indiana State Bar Association and the Indianapolis Bar Association. That roster indicates a practice oriented toward courtroom advocacy and the processes that surround it.
Colleagues and contacts describe him as someone who spends much of his time in litigation work. He appears regularly in filings and hearings and handles procedural work that trial practice often demands. He balances preparation for trial with advocacy in appellate forums when cases move beyond the trial level.
Outside the courtroom Sipes has continued to engage with the trial bar through professional groups and by helping shape association activity in his region. His role as a director at the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association places him in a position to influence programming and policy relevant to trial lawyers in the state.
He brings a steady, procedural approach to cases that require courtroom time and appellate follow-through. His current practice is concentrated on trial litigation in state and federal courts.
