About Roman J.
Roman J. Shakh trained as a historian before turning to law. He earned a B.A. in history from the City University of New York, Queens College in 2005. He went on to St. John’s University School of Law and received his J.D. in 2008. Those classrooms in Queens and the years that followed set the foundation for a practice rooted in state-level representation.
After law school he began building a practice in the New York region. He is admitted to practice in New York and in Connecticut. Early work included appearances in state courts and handling matters that required courtroom preparation. Over time he established an office under his own name, carrying cases through pleadings, discovery and, when necessary, trial.
Shakh has been active in professional circles that reflect a trial-oriented practice. He joined the New York Trial Lawyers Association in 2011 and remains a member. Since 2019 he has also been listed with the Suffolk County Bar Association. Those memberships have shaped his professional network and kept him engaged with developments in litigation practice and civil procedure at the state level.
Colleagues and clients describe him as methodical. He prepares cases in stages. He can move from client intake to discovery and motion practice without skipping procedural steps. His daily work has included courtroom appearances in New York and Connecticut courts and the negotiation of settlements where appropriate. He maintains his practice under the name Roman J. Shakh, Esq., and operates from offices bearing that title.
He represents individuals and businesses in matters that require courtroom work, document drafting and local court appearances. He balances time in the office and time in court. He is known for handling the procedural demands of state litigation and for maintaining a steady presence in the courts where he is licensed. He focuses on litigation matters in New York and Connecticut.
