About Roland Godfrey

Roland Godfrey Ottley trained first in the sciences and later in the law. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from St. John’s University in 1989 and a Juris Doctor from Villanova University School of Law in 1996. The combination of clinical training and legal education shaped an unusual professional path.

He practiced as a physician assistant at One Brooklyn Health in 2002. That clinical work gave him direct experience with medical records, patient care and the challenges individuals face when health issues intersect with other parts of life. Two years later he began practicing law. In 2004 he opened The Ottley Law Office, P.C., marking a shift into full-time legal practice.

His bar admissions include New York and federal courts that handle appeals and specialized claims. He is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the United States Court of Federal Claims. Those credentials allow him to take cases beyond state tribunals and into federal appellate and claims forums.

Ottley’s professional memberships reflect a sustained involvement in immigration law circles. He is a current member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the American Immigration Council. Records also indicate ongoing membership in other professional organizations since 2004. Those affiliations suggest steady engagement with developments in immigration policy and litigation.

Colleagues and clients describe a lawyer who draws on earlier clinical experience when immigration cases turn on medical evidence or complex health facts. He has handled matters that require both legal analysis and an understanding of medical documentation. His practice history shows work across administrative and judicial stages of immigration processes, including filings that reach federal courts.

He runs his practice from The Ottley Law Firm, P.C., where he has combined casework, filings and courtroom appearances. The office handles client intake, preparation of applications and responses, and representation at hearings and appeals. Over time his practice has balanced individual client matters and the procedural demands of federal litigation.

Outside case files, his dual background places him in a small group of lawyers with clinical training prior to law school. That perspective informs how he evaluates evidence and prepares testimony. He continues to represent clients in immigration matters, appearing in state and federal venues and before administrative agencies in support of their cases.
