About Robert G

Robert G Rehkemper is an attorney whose training spans both liberal arts and law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in history and psychology from Coe College in 1999 and a Juris Doctor from Drake University Law School in 2002. Those years framed his early interest in legal issues tied to criminal procedure and evidence.

He is admitted to practice in Iowa and is also admitted to the Eighth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Those admissions allow him to handle matters at the trial and appellate levels when cases move beyond state court. Over the years he has worked through the practical demands that come with courtroom work and appellate filings.

Rehkemper has been active in professional organizations that concentrate on criminal defense and impaired-driving law. In 2005 he held a board membership with the Iowa Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He served as State Delegate for the National College of DUI Defense in 2006 and participated in the Criminal Law Core Group of the Iowa Association for Justice in 2011. Those roles placed him in ongoing conversations about evidentiary standards and defense strategies, and they kept him engaged with peers on changes in statutes and case law.

His credentials include technical training relevant to drunk-driving prosecutions. He completed the BAC DataMaster Basic Science of Evidentiary Breath Alcohol Testing program through NPAS and took the NHTSA Standardized Field Sobriety Testing course offered by Platt and Associates. He has maintained attention to the scientific and procedural aspects of breath testing and field sobriety protocols, areas that frequently arise in misdemeanor and felony impaired-driving cases.

Colleagues and clients have known him for steady courtroom preparation and attention to forensic detail. He applies courtroom rules, evidentiary requirements, and procedural deadlines to the cases he handles. Admission to higher federal courts also gives him the option to pursue appellate relief when necessary.

He currently practices in Iowa, handling criminal-defense matters that include impaired-driving cases and related evidentiary issues. His present work centers on defending individuals charged in state and federal matters and addressing the technical aspects of DUI evidence.
