About Richard

Richard Tendler learned the law in classrooms and courtrooms. He earned his J.D. from Western New England University School of Law in 1997 after completing a B.A. at Ithaca College in 1989. Those years set the foundation for a practice split between state and federal work.

He began handling criminal matters in Florida in the early 2000s. In 2003 he opened the Law Offices of Richard Tendler in West Palm Beach, where he established a neighborhood practice centered on criminal defense. Over time his work expanded to include cases that required appearances in federal district courts as well as state trial courts.

Tendler is admitted to multiple courts. His admissions include the Supreme Court of Florida and the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts. He is also admitted to the 11th Circuit and several federal district courts, including the District of Massachusetts and the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. Those credentials have allowed him to represent clients on a range of matters that move between state and federal forums.

He has maintained memberships in several professional organizations. He belongs to the Florida State Bar and the Massachusetts State Bar. Locally, he is a member of the Palm Beach County Bar Association and the Palm Beach Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He also holds membership in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. These affiliations keep him connected to developments in criminal law and to colleagues in both state and federal practice.

Colleagues and clients describe Tendler as a courtroom lawyer who handles case preparation and hearings himself. His practice includes arraignments, pretrial motions, plea negotiations and trials when they occur. He has represented clients in matters that require coordination across jurisdictions, and he has handled proceedings in both state and federal courtrooms.

The Law Offices of Richard Tendler has been the public face of his practice since 2003. The firm’s caseload reflects the kinds of criminal matters that arise in Palm Beach County and elsewhere in Florida, as well as cases that reach federal court. He continues to represent individuals facing criminal charges, appearing in the courts where he is admitted and working on matters that require both local and federal experience.

He currently leads the Law Offices of Richard Tendler, where he handles criminal defense matters in state and federal courts.
