About Kai Li Aloe
Kai Li Aloe Fouts grew up pursuing two complementary interests: communications and the law. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in 1991 from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she studied Communications Arts, Radio-Television-Film and Political Science. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law in 1995.
After finishing law school, Fouts began her legal career in public service. In 1995 she joined the Office of the Public Defender for Florida’s 15th Judicial Circuit as an assistant public defender. That courtroom experience shaped her early practice and provided extensive trial exposure. In 1999 she moved into private practice as an associate with James L. Eisenberg, P.A., and in 2003 she became a partner and owner at Eisenberg & Fouts, P.A.
Fouts is admitted to practice in Florida and holds credentials to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. She also maintains admission to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Over the years she has handled matters at both the state and federal level, representing clients in trials, hearings and appellate proceedings.
Her professional life includes long-standing involvement in local and statewide legal organizations. She has been active in the Palm Beach Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since the mid-1990s. She served as president of the Palm Beach Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2015–2016, followed by roles as immediate past president and social chair. She chaired the Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee for the 15th Circuit from 2013 to 2016 and has taken part in Palm Beach County Bar Association committees and bench-bar events. Her work on criminal justice issues includes leadership of the Palm Beach County Criminal Justice Commission’s Crisis Intervention Team and the Mentally Ill Offenders Workgroup in the early 2000s. She has also volunteered as a pro bono advocate for the Palm Beach County Commission on Ethics since 2010 and has been involved with the Craig S. Barnard American Inn of Court for many years.
Colleagues describe Fouts as an experienced trial lawyer who has built a practice handling criminal defense matters in both state and federal courts. She continues to practice at Eisenberg & Fouts, P.A., representing clients in criminal matters, disciplinary and ethics-related proceedings, and appeals.
