About Richard

Richard "Rick" Mellen is an attorney based in St. George, Utah, with over two decades of diverse legal experience. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Oregon in 2002, where he distinguished himself as an editor for the Oregon Law Review and participated actively in the Moot Court Board. This involvement showcased his dedication to both legal scholarship and advocacy. After graduating, Rick became a member of the Utah State Bar in 2003, starting his professional journey in law. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Rick pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of Utah.

He graduated in 1999 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and French. His proficiency in French not only reflects his academic background but also enhances his ability to communicate effectively with a broader range of clients. This skill has proven invaluable in his practice — This lets the attorney serve clients in the St. George area. Upon his admission to the Utah State Bar, Rick joined Hughes & Bursell, P.C., in December 2003. His commitment to the firm and its clients led him to become a partner in Hughes, Thompson, Randall & Mellen, P.C., in February 2007.
