About Richard
Richard Mandel graduated from Boston University School of Law in 1990. He completed his legal training as the years that followed brought steady movement through courtrooms and firm offices. Early academic focus gave way to practical courtroom work and counsel roles in both private firms and corporate defense.
His first notable post was a clerkship in 1994 with the Honorable Frank J. Montemuro, Jr. at the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. That year provided an inside look at appellate procedure and opinion drafting. He moved into private practice in 1995, joining Smith & Duggan LLP where he cut his teeth on civil matters and litigation practice.
In 1998 Mandel joined Sugarman, Rogers, Barshak & Cohen. The later 1990s saw him transition toward defense and insurance-related work, and in 2002 he became a trial lawyer on staff counsel for Zurich Insurance in Boston. There, he handled defense assignments and developed experience in trial preparation, motions practice, and negotiating resolutions for insured clients. The Zurich role marked a sustained period of courtroom work and claims-related litigation.
By 2009 he took on an of-counsel role at Perry, Krumsiek & Jack LLP. That placement evolved and, in 2013, he became a partner at Perry, Krumsiek & Dolan, LLP. Those years included managing client files, mentoring younger lawyers, and handling complex civil disputes. He balanced litigation responsibilities with the administrative duties that come with partnership.
Mandel is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and has maintained a practice there for many years. His career shows a steady arc from appellate clerkship to front-line trial work and firm leadership. He has worked for both plaintiff and defense sides at different stages of his career, and he has experience counseling clients on litigation strategy and risk management.
He currently practices at the Baker Law Office. His work continues to involve civil litigation and insurance-related matters in Massachusetts. He handles case preparation, courtroom advocacy, and client counseling as part of his current practice focus.
