About Richard

Richard Lofgren has spent much of his professional life where law meets local business. He trained as a lawyer in Chicago and began practicing after earning his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in 1985. That early foundation framed a career split between legal work and civic involvement.

After law school he qualified to practice in Illinois and later took on admission that allows him to appear before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. His legal practice has run alongside a steady involvement in organizations that serve business owners and professionals. In 2009 he served as president of The Entrepreneur s Legal Resource, a role that put him in frequent contact with small-business leaders and advisers.

Lofgren's engagement extends beyond a single role. He has been a member of the Illinois Bar Association since 1988 and joined the DuPage Bar Association in 2005. Those memberships have provided a professional network and regular touchpoints with colleagues across the region. Since 2007 he has been seated in the President's Resource Group, and that platform has reinforced his interest in business leadership and peer collaboration.

Locally, Lofgren has taken on visible responsibilities in Glen Ellyn. He was named president of the Glen Ellyn Business Leaders Forum in 2011 and has remained in that post. In 2013 he added the role of vice president of professional services for the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce. Those positions have involved organizing events, advising business programs, and connecting municipal and private-sector interests.

Colleagues describe him as steady and practical in meetings and community settings. He tends to work on matters that require an understanding of both legal detail and the concerns of nonlawyers. His background in entrepreneur-focused legal services and deep ties to local business groups shape how he advises clients and which referrals he pursues.

Today Lofgren continues to practice law while maintaining active roles in local and regional business organizations. He practices in Illinois and is authorized to appear before the Seventh Circuit, and his current practice concentrates on serving business clients and professional organizations.
