About Rachel
Rachel Pico trained first as a social scientist and then as a lawyer. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh in 2013. Six years later she completed her J.D. at the University of Akron School of Law. The sequence shaped how she approaches client problems: attentive to behavior and precise about procedure.
At Akron, Pico completed coursework and clinical work that led to certifications in divorce mediation and general mediation from the same school. Those credentials inform much of her practice. She brings mediation tools to family law matters and uses them to narrow issues and keep disputes from escalating. Her legal training also covers the litigation fundamentals needed when negotiation cannot resolve a case.
Pico is licensed to practice in Ohio. She joined several local professional organizations in 2019 and remains an active member. Her memberships include the Akron Bar, the Trumbull County Bar, and the Nathaniel R. Jones Inn of Court. Participation in those groups keeps her current on procedural developments and offers regular contact with colleagues across the region.
Her work is based at Hoover Kacyon, LLC. At the firm she handles matters that arise in family law and mediation contexts. She prepares case filings, attends hearings, and represents clients at mediation sessions. When clients prefer an out-of-court resolution, she offers mediation services grounded in the certifications she completed during law school.
Colleagues describe Pico as methodical in preparation and straightforward in court. She tends to break complex issues into discrete questions, then address them one at a time. This approach appeals to clients who want clear next steps. It also suits practitioners who must balance negotiation and litigation strategies in the same file.
Outside of casework, Pico’s bar and Inn of Court memberships provide opportunities for mentoring and continuing legal education. She appears regularly at local bar events and contributes to panels and discussions aimed at improving courtroom practice and client communication. She continues to build her practice in Ohio, where she concentrates on family law and mediation at Hoover Kacyon, LLC.
